National Peace and Healing

The Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary, the oldest and largest historically Black Catholic fraternal order, shares in the worldwide outrage at the unprecedented atrocities carried out in our Nation’s Capital this past Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  We also call for needed peace, healing, and progress as the Presidential Inauguration approaches.

As people of God, Christians in faith, and citizens of this great country, we are obliged to call out the lack of regard for civility; the destruction of property, and most importantly the threatening and loss of lives by individuals who continue to sow discord and echo false and disparaging narratives.

Proverbs 6:16-19 gives great guidance on how we should carry ourselves, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family.”

We cling to God’s Word during these disturbing times and walk faithfully knowing that He directs us, “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29

Our prayer is for peace and healing, and for the light
of truth, love, and justice to reign across our great Nation!
